Wishing Well Gift

Ever since we have known Megan she has always been so caring and involved in the lives of others. If she see’s someone in need of help or a little extra love and care she steps in right away without hesitation or question. Over the past few years she has really been influenced by Mattie’s story and has helped raise money for Mattie’s therapies. Megan recently ran a half marathon in Florida and the Philadelphia Marathon to fundraise for Mattie.

We decided that in lieu of favors for Megan’s Bridal Shower that we would donate money in honor of Mattie and provide her guests with the ability to also donate to Mattie. We think Megan will be over the moon when she finds out that her friends and family have been able to do something to help this special little girl that has touched Meg’s heart so much.

Megan wrote this about Mattie while training and fundraising for her Philly Marathon

“Exactly 3 years ago, I had trained for this very same Marathon, wanting to make a full marathon a notch on my running belt. Unfortunately, a week before THIS very race, I tore my ACL, MCL and Meniscus playing soccer. It took 2 knee surgeries for me to be able to start running again. I remember how hard it was to not be fully mobile and my legs not doing what I wanted them to. I had to rely on others to get me around, I was defeated. While recovering, I met Mattie’s parents and heard about how Mattie was born 9 weeks pre-mature in April 2011. Her chances of survival were 12% but Mattie defied all odds and was born 15 weeks after her mom’s water broke. At 3 weeks old Mattie was diagnosed with a brain injury called PVL and at 8 months old was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Mattie has been fighting every day to do the little things we take for granted like roll over, or sit up. Amazingly, she has done it all with a smile. Her positive attitude, her parents love and hope for their little girl, turned my whole perspective around. Mattie taught me that no matter what difficulties lay ahead, there is HOPE and when there is HOPE you can smile and get through anything.”
